Fellow mama's out there, I would love some advice.
A year or so, there were a ton of bottles, sippy cups and other stuff recalled for containing BPA. Did you throw out your bottles and get new ones? If you do use bottles, what kind do you use?
We used Avent with Reyna and they worked just fine. They were recalled and I am going to this new store in Canton to shop around a little.
What's your opinion? I would love some feedback.
Thank you, ahead of time. :))

We used Avent bottle with Porter (so they're 3 years old) and use the same with Hudson. And... we even put them in the dishwasher... a "no no" for BPA products LOL! I figure.... what the hell. I can't shield him from every little thing... and we use plastic stuff for leftovers. Porter's fine. I'm sure Hudson will be fine too.
Ooh Buy Buy Baby is SOOO cool. Its like... amazing. Like a wall of sippy cups. A wall of bibs. A wall of little toys. Crazy. Although... they are pricier on some items... the Nautilus was $179 there and at WalMart it is $149.
I can't help you with this. My girls are way beyond the sippy cup thing. But I really think that there is more hipe about it than needs to be..all of our kids lived and are fine so far!
we used the playtex ventaire ones. i saved them but i still haven't decided if i'm going to buy new ones or not. i almost always hand-washed them and i think they're probably fine. plus, i really liked them and have read some bad reviews about the new version. on the other hand, we only had 7 of them and they aren't that expensive. i can easily drop $30-40 at target on crap we don't need, so looking at it that way, i might as well buy new bottles and be on the safe side. :)
I used Avent with Morgan but we switched to Playtex Drop Ins with Callie (they use the formed liners) and they are awesome.
All BPA bottles and sippies were actually pulled from the shelves here in Canada. I know other comments say that it's probably all hype (and it very well could be) but if it's so bad that they have issued a pull from the shelves throughout our whole country, I would be uneasy using them still.
Morgan uses Playtex sippy cups and Callie uses this cool Gerber one.
We don't wash any plastic in the dishwasher or put it in the microwave. I also only used BPA free pacifiers when Callie was tiny (the Nuk ones).
Have you seen that site that lists all the BPA free bottles, sippies and (I think) pacifiers?
I think Avent has a BPA free version out now...not that it will help you with not having to buy new bottles but if you liked them...they are out there.
I used Avent with Renee and gave them away after the BPA news broke. We use the Born Free bottles now and I have been happy with them...although I have never really been "unhappy" with a bottle so I don't know. Maybe I just don't know what to look for that's "bad."
My theory on the BPA thing is that it probably won't make a difference but like Kim said, it was worth $50 for me to not have to live with wondering!
I'm with Nicole, we've used the same Avent bottles since Annika. Hey, might as well give all my kids a fair chance at cancer, right? Just kidding! My neighbor uses born free and really likes them, but for the most part, I think that all the diff. brands have taken their old bottles off the shelf and has started selling BPA free bottles. The thing about BPA is that it will be many years before you would ever know of a problem and whether or not that would be linked to using BPA bottles could be up in the air, you know?
We use the Dr.Brown's bottles this time around...love them!! The flow is great and she has never spit up much. Like Kim said, there is a website that lists which are BPA free...can't remember the name though.
We use Dr. Brown's. When Fynn and Emrick were only drinking up to 4oz., we used the glass. When they surpassed that, we upgraded to the plastic BPA free ones. They are great (a pain to clean, but you get used to it). We've never had a gas/spit-up issue.
Also, I don't know how you feel about it, but they'll only be using them for another 2 months or so...I'd be willing to share, you'd just need to get new nipples. Sorry, I don't know if it's weird or not...but it would definitely be cheaper than buying at the store.
i used the playtex drop in's with tucker. i really loved those and will probably use them again with our next baby. boy, that was a helpful answer wasn't it? good luck and sounds like it's an awesome place to shop. have fun!
I used Avent too. They came out with a BPA free one. Yes, I would go BPA free if I would happen to have another child. Born Free is another good brand.
We do use the Avent bottles passed down from Donnie to Nolan....I did however stop putting them in the microwave & dishwasher, now we heat them in glass (along with most other things in plastic containers). I did buy some Dr. Brown bottles, BPA free, & looking back I wish I would have just thrown out all the Avent bottle and got all new BPA free bottles...
