- I cannot tell you how excited we are to say goodbye to this state for a week. The weather here, in particular. It just cannot seem to warm up. The high tonight? 16 degrees people! Yuck.
- I really hate whining and complaining about the girls because most of the time, they are awesome little ladies but, the past couple of days WOW! There is a certain 4 year old that has definitely been testing our patience. I left for a couple hours this afternoon and while I was gone, Miss Reyna's behavior was less than stellar and left me feeling so disappointed in her. I hate feeling like that as a parent.
- Jade's aunt was kind enough to come over for a couple of hours this afternoon while I ran to the store to get Reyna some sandals and Ruby some clothes for Florida. My mama joined me at the store, which was nice to spend some kid-less time with her.
- While I was at the store, Ruby should have been napping, but the poor thing was interrupted several times by Reyna barging in the bedroom to retrieve various board games. Needless to say, Ruby never took a nap while I was gone. Yes, Reyna is well aware she is to stay out of the bedroom while Ruby is napping and never pulls stuff like this when Mama is home. Can you guess how much fun it was trying to make din din with a napless babe??? C'mon, just take a guess!
- I had every intention of starting to pack today. Everytime I would even get close to opening my suitcase, the cat puked, Ruby flooded the water cooler, someone was crying, someone needed something, it was time to make dinner, laundry, bathtime. Ugh. Today. You name it, it happened.

Friday Night Leftovers-The What a Day Edition
2.17.2010
What a blah day.
May I just say blah? That is one word to describe the past 24 hours of my life. Okay, that sounded a little too dramatic, but you get my drift. We stayed at my parents last night, to help out with Lucy while they are gone. As I was getting Reyna unstrapped from her carseat, I look over at Ruby and she throws up everywhere.
Great. We aren't home and I have a carseat that needs to be stripped and cleaned, not to mention dry by the time I need to get up at the crack of dawn to get to a meeting for work.
Not sure why Ruby threw up. She was fine the rest of the evening. She ate dinner, slept great and woke up hungry this morning. Weird, right?!
I went to bed late last night because I wanted to make sure the carseat was nice and dry. You can't dry it in a dryer, so I kept rotating it as the heat kicked on at the house. OMG. The things that you do for your children, I swear.
After sleeping like crap, I drag myself out of bed, shower and throw on some clothes to look somewhat decent and professional today since I have two meetings.
I earned Parent of the Year award this morning when I dropped the girls off with Lisa. Reyna had pajamas with no underwear or socks on, just crocs on her feet ((lined with fur)). I forgot a lunch for Reyna and poor Ruby was waiting patiently for her cereal. Oh, and you should have seen poor Reyna's hair. I should have taken a picture.
I remembered to brush my teeth, but ended up applying my makeup at my desk when I got to work. I am soo ready to go home, get my pj's on, lounge with Jade and head to bed early.

Sleep is not overrated in my book
Yesterday, Reyna took a really long nap for my mom. After 2 hours and 40 minutes, my mom woke up her. Last night, I put her to bed a little later (8:30 ish) and she went right to sleep. Jade & I watched Dancing with the Stars and went to bed.
2:00 am rolls around and this is what I hear.
"Mama, where's my suckey?"
She was wide awake. I walk her back to her bed, half asleep and tuck her back into bed and find her suckey.
Fast forward. 2:30ish.
"Mama, it's dark out."
Once again, Reyna is standing at my bed, staring at me telling me that it's still dark. I told her it was the middle of the night and once again, tuck her back in. She was wide awake! What the heck???
Fast forward. It's after 3 and I am on the verge of tears.
"Mama, where's daddy?" (Half asleep, he mumbled something to her like, "I am here.")
I pull her into our bed, tuck her in and pray like hell she falls asleep. Not a chance. Once again, we tuck her back into bed, say good night and hope she is asleep or at least drifting off or counting sheep or whatever.
Fast forward. It's 3:30 and I hear her roaming the house. I know her like a book and I can hear her getting Nellie a toy and throwing it to her. Yes, it's 3:30 am and Reyna is playing fetch with the dog.
Once again, I tuck her in, lay with her this time, kiss her goodnight and tell her how mama is exhausted and we all need to get some sleep.
God heard (and answered) my prayer request. She finally fell asleep. I never did fall asleep between the hours of 2-4:30. I could hear her and there was no way I was falling asleep.
The hard part of this whole ordeal was she wasn't cranky or crying. She was ready to start her day. How could I have been mad at her? I couldn't. I pat myself on the back this morning for the ample amount of patience I had with her. I never yelled or expressed any sort of anger towards her.
She woke up around 7:30, soon after me. I was chugging a cup of strong coffee this morning when she woke up. I felt (and still feel) like I was hit by a bus today. Jade & I were discussing this morning how we had a slight feel for what it is going to be like getting up with a baby again. We are scared. Very scared. I asked him if we could hire a baby nurse. I was just kidding.
Kind of.

Today.
I have been wanting to blog all day today but, someone (ahem,Nic) sucked me into the black hole and most of my free time has been devoted to that.
Today has been quite the day. Reyna went to Aunt Mollie's this afternoon while I went to work. I picked her up, she had not even slept an hour. Can you already tell where this is going?
We got home, changed our clothes, I started on dinner so it could be ready in time for Reyna. Well, I ended up making Beef Stroganoff with Reyna on my hip. I managed to cut meat, chop onion and garlic, put them into our Mini-Chopper and finish dinner one-handed.
After dinner, we went for ice-cream. Jade & I both had cones and Reyna had a little baby cup. We came home, everything was going fine until Reyna decided she wanted the bottom part of my cone. I didn't give it to her, so she took a spoon full of ice-cream and threw it on the coffee table. Oh, while screaming and throwing a fit. Off to bed she went......

Yesterday.
I was going to write last night, but decided against it since I was exhausted from the day and a very frustrated momma. Reyna has been throwing fits. I guess she decided to wander into the terrible 2's a little early. She hasn't been sleeping during the day much. Last night and this afternoon, she fell asleep in the car, I carried her inside both times w/out her waking up. Those of you who know this little lady, know that what she has been doing is very rare.
Most of yesterday, I was wishing I could have been at work. Or somewhere else for that matter. It was a pretty rotten day. Yesterday afternoon, I met up with a girlfriend from high school, her mom and my mom. Kristy had a baby several months ago and we wanted to visit. Kristy handed Madyson off to me and Reyna started throwing a fit. She was on the floor kicking and screaming. Okay, sorta normal. She rarely sees me holding other babies. My mom took Madyson. Same thing. Reyna yelling, "Nana, Nana." It sounded like we were leaving her somewhere unfamiliar. She was hysterical.
That afternoon she did not take a nap.
Fast forward to Jade's soccer game.
We were sitting on our blanket playing, hanging out and watching the game when Reyna decided to make a mad dash to the parking lot. I got up as fast as I could (without shoes) and started running towards her. I saw a car coming and this car wasn't going to see her since she was running besides a big truck. I screamed for her and snagged her by the arm. I yelled so loud Jade heard me from the field. I don't think I have ever been so scared. I was so angry w/ her.
The rest of the evening consisted of her screaming when I told her no, throwing herself on the ground kicking. It was actually somewhat embarassing. Looking back, I probably should have just left. I came home and just sat down. I was physically and emotionally drained from the day.

Let's see
What's been going on? Lots of stuff.
For the past couple of nights, I told myself I was going to sit down and post. Monday, my head hurt. I went right to bed. Last night, we had dinner, Jade gave Reyna a bath, we put her to bed and decided to wash our cars. So, it was 8:30 and we were outside scrubbing bugs off our bumpers. We finished drying Jade's truck in the dark. I was ready for bed after that.
So, it's Wednesday and I am finally getting around to it.
Our morning started off less than stellar. Last night, I told Jade that my keys were in the van and NOT to lock the doors. This morning, he moved my van and left for work. I had to work today (which I normally don't) because of a staff meeting. I wanted to get to work by 10. We were packed and ready to go and we got out to the van and it's locked. What the heck. I can't see my keys because I had left them in the driver door. Of course, I can't get a hold of Jade. I forgot about his dental appt. I called several people trying to track him down. Finally, he answered and he couldn't figure out how the door's were locked because he didn't do it. He came home which was about a 25 minute drive from where he was. By this point, Reyna was trying to climb into her pool while I was trying to get her back into the house. Jade came home and realized that his elbow might have hit the lock button on accident. :)
What else?
Friday night, I headed to Archivers with Kristin, Nicole, Jane, Laurie & Maria for some scrap time and a much needed night out. I am sure you all know, but yes, breaking up is hard to do. We loved Archivers. They were hospitable, helped us out and had very yummy snacks. And we all know, it's all about good snacks when you are scrapping. The store was a scrapbookers dream. Nicole made the comment how dumb we probably looked walking around oohing and aahing at every little thing like we lived in a cave. It was quite humorous. I didn't think I would accomplish much scrapping since there was so much to look at, but I did. And yes, the night was still tons of fun despite the minor "run-in" we had prior to leaving. :) It wasn't a big deal. And yes, Jane felt awful.
Last Saturday was my birthday. It was such a great day. We talked about going to dinner at one of our favorite places to eat, but I wanted a low-key day. Jade made french toast and the coffee was brewing when I woke up. The best part? I didn't even have to clean up after breakfast. What a good hubby I have. Reyna took a nap then we headed out to do a little shopping. I wanted new tennis shoes, which I found @ Kohls. Of course, where else. I love that store. We met my parents & bro for lunch. That evening, we went to The Parlour for icecream with my parents, Bobby & Em and my Grandma.
I was so excited about my new scrap tote that my parents bought for me. Oh, I have to share this. I guess when my mom was asking my dad what they should get me for my birthday, my dad said, "oh, she wants one of those scrap totes." My mom looked at him like, "how did you know that??" He read it on my blog. He is definitely a faithful reader. Em & Bobby gave me some scrapping goodies, too. Oh, and Em picked up a gorgeous decoration Sun for our patio. I think I might save it for when we move. I also received money, two books and a gift card to JoAnn's which has already been put to good use. I ended up getting one of these, a new punch and a few other goodies. It was burning a hole in my pocket the day the mail lady dropped it off. Did I mention Reyna bought me flowers? She is so thoughtful. :) Jade's side gave me money which I am saving up for something very special.
So, here we are. It's Wednesday night. I have sat down four different times trying to finish up this post. I think that sums the last few days up.
Reyna went to bed quite early tonight. I am going to save that for another post.

Oh, the dreaded.
It would be wonderful if babies could just tell you that they don't feel well. It would save so much time and efford playing the guessing game.
Yesterday, I dropped Reyna off and picked her up from Sara's. She was fine. We headed to my mom's, she laid down. When I got her up, I made her a plate of food, which she wouldn't touch. It was macaroni & cheese. Okay, that should have been my first clue.
We packed up, headed to Jade's soccer game where Reyna wasn't acting herself. She still had not eaten and wasn't in the greatest of moods.
The game ended, we pakced up, said bye to Jade (he's leaving for the weekend) and headed down the road. We weren't two minutes down the road when it happened.
The moment I have been dreading.
Reyna got sick.
I don't mean a sneeze or a cough.
I felt terrible for her. I didn't know what to do. I pulled over as soon as I had the chance. I had nothing with me, except for a few babywipes and Jade's soccer socks. They definitely became multi-purpose socks that night.
So, we got home. Reyna was running a fever. I put her into the bath, cleaned her and put her to bed. My mom (who is a Saint!) came with gatorade (nurse triage line suggested it) and helped me clean her carseat.
She hasn't been sick (thank God) again and was acting a little better this morning. Her fever is low-grade and she went back to bed this morning.
I felt so bad for her. Hopefully, she will be her spunky old-self later on.

What's on your list?
So, it wasn't the greatest of mornings. Certain things didn't go as planned. I am over it. I could have posted a not-so-nice post earlier, but I decided against it. Instead, I decided to post on a more positive note. So, here is my list of stuff that I am thankful for today.
- Waking up, having a good cup of coffee with Jade before he rushed off to work.
- The rain falling down so I wouldn't have to manually water my plants. ( I know, pathetic.)
- Reyna sleeping in so I could have time to watch an old episode of Sex & The City, check my e-mail, take a shower and put makeup on.
- Reyna waking up in a good mood.
- Sitting down, having a delicious lunch with Reyna instead of cleaning the kitchen while she is eating and then starving in the pm because I didn't eat with her.
- Going thru the drive-thru at Tim Horton's before work.
- Being able to go to Applebee's after work to meet up with a few friends.
Have a good day.
