Oh Ruby....

She is obsessed with her goggles right now. I think that you have them upside down, sister!

Flip Fest 2013

Reyna has grown so much this year in so many ways. I will never forget her Christmas program in preschool where she stood on the stage, didn't sing a single song and was on the verge of tears the entire time. That was the complete opposite at Flip Fest. Reyna has turned into an outgoing little girl. We walked into Western HS that morning and she ran off with friends immediately. Her performance was adorable. She smiled the entire time acting like a little ham.

I love you Reyna bug. xoxo

Roobs and her boots.

Ruby loves her boots. She is also into wearing tights right now. She gets this from her big sis, of course. On Monday, she wore her boots. When I asked where she got them...

"from Great Gramma. I feel like her today, too."
-Ruby

Of course hearing her say this, I had to walk away for a minute to wipe away my tears. If you have a minute, please say an extra prayer for my Grandma.

I am in the process of getting my resume updated. Going back to work, is definitely in the cards and is something that sounds exciting to me now that the girls are getting older. Don't get me wrong, I do love being home, but it's time. Roobs needs to interact with other children more than just playdates. In fact, she needs school/daycare more than I need to dress up a few days a week. True story.

One day I was doing crafts with the girls and I asked them how they felt about me getting a job just like daddy. I think they stopped dead in their tracks and looked at me with the most serious faces I have ever seen.

Reyna:"Mama, what is going to happen to Ruby??? Is daddy quitting his job??"

Me: "Well, no. I think she might go to daycare."

Cue the horrified looks and tears from both girls........

Both girls in unison: "WHAT IS DAYCARE???"

Oh, my.....

Bullets

  • We just started doing Elf on a Shelf. The girls {Reyna in particular} are having so much fun with this. They look for her every morning. So far, she has not caused any mischief. I think she might start though. Oh, her name is Sparkle. Reyna named her. Is it just me, or is that Elf creepy looking???!!!
  • Last night, it was time to clean up.....Ruby informed us all she lost her cleaning powers. Where does she come up with this stuff??!!!
  • I had some chairs that went with an old table that we had. I changed the covers on them. I got rid of the chairs we had in the kitchen and put these in there. You like?
  • I do not know why people bother going to stores when you can shop online. I sat in front of the computer, in my pj's with a hot cup of coffee yesterday and finished up shopping while Ruby watched Dora. I didn't have to fight the crowds AND I didn't pay for shipping. It sounds lazy, but It was so easy.
  • Christmas just keeps getting better and better. The girls are so excited. The tree is up and house is decorated. We are going to see Santa this week. They love doing their Advent calendars. I have a few crafts planned. I admit, it's hard not to go overboard. They are only young once.

Christmas Wreaths

My mom & I spent the day crafting yesterday, which was a ton of fun. The other day, I asked her to go shopping, she said she was going to look for a holiday wreath. I told her we should just make one. Reyna was at school, Ruby was suuuper low key. I love having my mom off for the Winter. The top two pictures are my mom's wreath and the bottom two are my wreath. I am still planning on making one more for a gift. We referred to this tutorial to make our flowers.

Of course Ruby enjoyed having my mom over, as well. In between crafting, we played Elefun, had a Taylor Swift dance party, ate lasagna leftovers and enjoyed hot coffee and tea. It was a lovely afternoon, I tell ya. One of the perks for me, was not having to take Roobs with me to pick up Reyna OR taking her with me to gymnastics. I dont' know who loved it more me or Ruby.

Day #14
Today I am thankful for the sun that is shining and hearing, "I love you's" all day from Roobs.

Daddy/Daughter Dance

I love these girls so much. Reyna was so excited ever since she found out there was a daddy/daughter dance and Roobs was so sad she couldn't go.....ever since she found out.

A lot of Reyna's friends went. She had a blast with her daddy and with her friends. Excuse the poor quality of the pictures and oh, Jade's black eye....ain't that somethin'? Have I mentioned that??? Yeah, he gets out of line now and then and I have to show him who is boss...Kidding! His binocular-eye piece hit him in the eye as he was jumping down when he was in the woods. I feel like I have said this already, have I?

Anyway....everyone had a great time that night. Ruby & I spent the evening with my grandma, mom & dad.

Day #12
Today I am thankful for Reyna's love of school. Her report card came home with her today and she is doing really well. We are so, so proud of our little lady.

One, two, skip a few....

Yep, I skipped a couple of days. I have been busy. Seriously.

Guess what? I finished my Christmas shopping for the girls!! Minus a couple stocking stuffers and Brave (which doesn't come out for 3 more days), I am DONE!!! I must admit, it is so hard not to go CRaZy. They are girls and they are at such FuN ages, ya know?!??!!! Question, do you shop with your spouse? I know I have mentioned this, but Jade doesn't like to shop. I do not take him. It would be torture for both of us. He doesn't even know I have gone. He just prefers it that way and so do I. Weird, I know.

I have been purchasing a few things here and there for the house. My mom & I went to Ikea several weeks ago and I bought a lot for the house. New frames, curtains, plates, silverware, lamps, placemats and ton of other stuff I cannot even remember. The saying in the picture above is from a party I went to a couple of weeks ago called Simply Said. It was such a fun party. I have new pictures for the frames on their way, as well. It was definitely time to change them since the girls do not look like that anymore. Next up is the girls room. They are getting bunks this winter. I cannot wait to pick out new bedding, curtains and do some fun things to their bedroom.

Tonight, is the daddy/daughter dance at the school. Reyna is SO excited. Roobs & I are going to spend the evening with my grandma.

Day #10
Today I am thankful for the sister bond. Whether they are playing with each other or arguing over a piece of dress up clothing, I love that God blessed us with two beautiful little ladies.

Let's Get Together

Well, you know us Feister's roll....any excuse for a get together, right? Aunt Diane drove to J-town for a visit and well, we had a cookout/partay! {Aunt Sherry Lynn was missing....:((( She was out of town for a wedding.}

So, there was a TON of kiddos. And they ALL wanted to play with Kaitlin.

My mom asked Bobby (in a serious way) to take a lot of pictures. My brother and his sense of humor....he took pictures of EVERYTHING. I really do love his sense of humor.

I am soooo soooo glad we were able to pile all the great grand babies on the couch with my Grandma. I look at these pictures and I am so glad to have them. The pictures and the good memories of this day. After the littles, it was the big kids' turn. After that, her kids turn and that is where I am sad to see Aunt Sherry isn't there. I am still thinking of photoshopping her in though.

Day #6
Today I am thankful for the right to vote. I must admit, I am also thankful for this yummy omlette that hubs made me, as well. :)

The Haps

  • This is becoming the new "Ruby norm" around our house. She will take a bath or a shower in the afternoon, I wrap her up, she asks for her bebe's and she falls asleep. Two weeks ago, she didn't even make it off the bathroom floor before falling asleep. Two weeks ago, I laid her on Reyna's bed to get her dressed and I went back to check on her and she was zonked. The problem is, she does this about 45 minutes before it's time to get Reyna. School is really taking a toll on Ruby, as well. :)
  • Kristin, my cousin, is about to go into labor. She is the closest person I have to a sister since many of you know, I have a brother. I am so excited for her and Travis. I think it's such a different feeling you have for someone close to you having a baby AFTER you have had your own. Does that make sense? It's so much more emotional. She sent me a text the other day giving me the deets of her dialation and I was in tears. Oh, my. Bottom line, I am just so happy to meet this little man and watch her become a mama.
  • When I picked Reyna up from school the other day, she informed me that a little boy in her class tells her she is beautiful. She said it so casual to me because to her, it means nothing. We talked about being "beautiful" after that and she knows it is more than just her looks. So, for now, I am glad that she is in this naive state. Whew! Okay, so where do I sign up to home school???
  • I made this sign for our dining room. I do like how it turned out. It is pretty nice having Jade have an office/shop that has an ample supply of wood, paint, saws and whatever other craft supplies I can get him to bring home for me. My friend, Jen, asked if I was going to open an Etsy store. My neighbor (okay, she is my dear friend but I LOVE calling her my neighbor it is so much more fun!!!!) & I have talked about it. She makes burp cloths, knits and is very crafty. I have kind of ventured into making a few things here and there, but it's a scary venture. What is people don't like your stuff??? I don't know. As of right now, I am just being crafty for myself. I just finished a sign for my front room. I will take a picture of that and share soon. I always thought I wasn't the crafty type. I am kinda thinking of going the homemade gift route for Christmas for certain people. It's so much more fun. Also, I am going to ask for a sewing machine for Christmas....say what?!?! Once again, I would have sewn my fingers together a few years ago. No, I am NOT kidding.
  •  We had a sad weekend. Our bunny passed away. It was sudden. I'll post more soon.
  • My mom & I picked up the girls' Halloween costumes on Friday. Reyna is going to be Merida from Brave. Her costume is gorgeous and it comes with this red curly wig that looks so stinkin' cute. Ruby is going to be Ariel. She told Jade last night she wished she had a Prince Eric to go with her costume. I almost fell on the floor laughing.

1st day of Kindergarten.

I have been thinking about this day all Summer long. I kept wondering how she was going to do. Okay, and how I was going to do, as well. We school shopped, bought the perfect book bag with matching lunch box. She has all of her supplies.

A couple weeks ago, we went to the Library and checked out books that pertained to school. I made sure we had, "The Kissing Hand." Last night, she asked if I would draw her a kissing hand in her palm and I thought I was going to lose it right then and there. We also had a chat about being nice to everyone no matter what. After she went to bed, I made her the perfect lunch complete with star shaped sandwiches and a few other healthy sides.

Jade got up early and made a big breakfast this morning. Reyna chose her outfit last night. I bought her three new headbands, so that was the only thing she contemplated, which one would look best with her Figaro shirt that Nana & Papa bought her.

She was excited to leave and kept asking if we were going to be late. I explained to her that I woke her up nice and early so we would have a lot of time this morning.

When we arrived at her school, she was not nervous, but she would also not let go of Jade's hand. Two things I do not want to forget; she was placed at the same table with Alex (my friend Amanda's little boy) & she kissed Roobs goodbye. I know there is going to come a day where she will not want to kiss Ruby goodbye. This is the part where we left. Just like that. We left her. No tears. I was glad it was an easy drop off.

I cannot wait to hear about her day. I am glad it is only a half day, since today is her first gymnastics class, as well. She is going to be one tired little lady by the end of the week.

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook today. I had to share. I think it sums up the way I am feeling today. Did I cry today? No. BUT, it feels so strange knowing I have been mostly a stay at home mom to Reyna. It is just going to take some getting used to her not being home.
