One month + Food funnies

One month.
So, I am slacking.
I have thought about ending this poor little blog. I have pushed it to the corner and given it no attention. We have all been pretty sick. Like, really sick. Thank you, kindergarten. Reyna has definitely learned the art of sharing.

So, I am not going to stop blogging. I do enjoy going back and reading the haps.

I do have two funnies that I wanted to share. Yesterday, I asked the girls if they wanted edadame with their lunch. Ruby said, but she wanted eda-daddy. Get it???

This morning, I made Jade & the girls dunker eggs (over easy). Ruby asked me if I would cut her dumpster egg.

Bullets

  • We just started doing Elf on a Shelf. The girls {Reyna in particular} are having so much fun with this. They look for her every morning. So far, she has not caused any mischief. I think she might start though. Oh, her name is Sparkle. Reyna named her. Is it just me, or is that Elf creepy looking???!!!
  • Last night, it was time to clean up.....Ruby informed us all she lost her cleaning powers. Where does she come up with this stuff??!!!
  • I had some chairs that went with an old table that we had. I changed the covers on them. I got rid of the chairs we had in the kitchen and put these in there. You like?
  • I do not know why people bother going to stores when you can shop online. I sat in front of the computer, in my pj's with a hot cup of coffee yesterday and finished up shopping while Ruby watched Dora. I didn't have to fight the crowds AND I didn't pay for shipping. It sounds lazy, but It was so easy.
  • Christmas just keeps getting better and better. The girls are so excited. The tree is up and house is decorated. We are going to see Santa this week. They love doing their Advent calendars. I have a few crafts planned. I admit, it's hard not to go overboard. They are only young once.

One, two, skip a few....

Yep, I skipped a couple of days. I have been busy. Seriously.

Guess what? I finished my Christmas shopping for the girls!! Minus a couple stocking stuffers and Brave (which doesn't come out for 3 more days), I am DONE!!! I must admit, it is so hard not to go CRaZy. They are girls and they are at such FuN ages, ya know?!??!!! Question, do you shop with your spouse? I know I have mentioned this, but Jade doesn't like to shop. I do not take him. It would be torture for both of us. He doesn't even know I have gone. He just prefers it that way and so do I. Weird, I know.

I have been purchasing a few things here and there for the house. My mom & I went to Ikea several weeks ago and I bought a lot for the house. New frames, curtains, plates, silverware, lamps, placemats and ton of other stuff I cannot even remember. The saying in the picture above is from a party I went to a couple of weeks ago called Simply Said. It was such a fun party. I have new pictures for the frames on their way, as well. It was definitely time to change them since the girls do not look like that anymore. Next up is the girls room. They are getting bunks this winter. I cannot wait to pick out new bedding, curtains and do some fun things to their bedroom.

Tonight, is the daddy/daughter dance at the school. Reyna is SO excited. Roobs & I are going to spend the evening with my grandma.

Day #10
Today I am thankful for the sister bond. Whether they are playing with each other or arguing over a piece of dress up clothing, I love that God blessed us with two beautiful little ladies.

Halloween + NaBloPoMo FAIL

Halloween was SO MUCH FUN this year. Seriously, the best yet. My mom, Jade, me & Roobs went to Reyna's party which was so cute. It was neat to watch her interact with her friends.

We came home the girls were SO hyped up. While they bounced off the walls and played with my mom, I made some jalapeno cornbread muffins to go with the crockpot chili. Bobby & Kaitlin, Jade's parents and his sis & hubs were coming over. Uncle Brad also came over to see the girls.

We made plans to go to an indoor trunk or treat, but ended up doing the good ol' classic outdoor trick or treating, which for several reasons I am glad we did. I heard by several, the indoor trunk or treat/carnival did not do a great job replacing house to house trick or trick treating for the older kids AND we had friends there and their kiddos were wanting to go house to house when they were done with the indoor activites. PLUS, I don't think it would have felt like Halloween going to something indoors, BUT that is my opinion. That is why we have gloves, hats and nice warm boots. {These are the boots Jade just ordered for me. All I needed was new rain boots. He upgraded me a little.} So, while Linsie & Peggy passed out candy at our house, the girls, Kaitlin & Bobby, Jade and his dad all walked the hood. It was chilly, but it was so fun. The girls had a ball.

So, now that I have already FAILED at posting everyday....opps! Onto Day # 3 of Thankful.
Today, I am thankful for Jade. He is my rock, my best friend. I love that he is such a good hands on dad, a good provider and a hard worker.

The Haps

  • This is becoming the new "Ruby norm" around our house. She will take a bath or a shower in the afternoon, I wrap her up, she asks for her bebe's and she falls asleep. Two weeks ago, she didn't even make it off the bathroom floor before falling asleep. Two weeks ago, I laid her on Reyna's bed to get her dressed and I went back to check on her and she was zonked. The problem is, she does this about 45 minutes before it's time to get Reyna. School is really taking a toll on Ruby, as well. :)
  • Kristin, my cousin, is about to go into labor. She is the closest person I have to a sister since many of you know, I have a brother. I am so excited for her and Travis. I think it's such a different feeling you have for someone close to you having a baby AFTER you have had your own. Does that make sense? It's so much more emotional. She sent me a text the other day giving me the deets of her dialation and I was in tears. Oh, my. Bottom line, I am just so happy to meet this little man and watch her become a mama.
  • When I picked Reyna up from school the other day, she informed me that a little boy in her class tells her she is beautiful. She said it so casual to me because to her, it means nothing. We talked about being "beautiful" after that and she knows it is more than just her looks. So, for now, I am glad that she is in this naive state. Whew! Okay, so where do I sign up to home school???
  • I made this sign for our dining room. I do like how it turned out. It is pretty nice having Jade have an office/shop that has an ample supply of wood, paint, saws and whatever other craft supplies I can get him to bring home for me. My friend, Jen, asked if I was going to open an Etsy store. My neighbor (okay, she is my dear friend but I LOVE calling her my neighbor it is so much more fun!!!!) & I have talked about it. She makes burp cloths, knits and is very crafty. I have kind of ventured into making a few things here and there, but it's a scary venture. What is people don't like your stuff??? I don't know. As of right now, I am just being crafty for myself. I just finished a sign for my front room. I will take a picture of that and share soon. I always thought I wasn't the crafty type. I am kinda thinking of going the homemade gift route for Christmas for certain people. It's so much more fun. Also, I am going to ask for a sewing machine for Christmas....say what?!?! Once again, I would have sewn my fingers together a few years ago. No, I am NOT kidding.
  •  We had a sad weekend. Our bunny passed away. It was sudden. I'll post more soon.
  • My mom & I picked up the girls' Halloween costumes on Friday. Reyna is going to be Merida from Brave. Her costume is gorgeous and it comes with this red curly wig that looks so stinkin' cute. Ruby is going to be Ariel. She told Jade last night she wished she had a Prince Eric to go with her costume. I almost fell on the floor laughing.

{Mostly} Wordless Wednesday

The girls painted today.

Birdie houses.

Reyna wanted a house triple this size.

Roobs was fine with a teeny one.

After Reyna's house was dry, she climbed the tree to hang it in the "perfect spot" for the birds.

Ruby caked her paint on, but when it's dry, it will go next to Reyna's

She will not be climbing.

She will rely on big sis for that job.

:)

Sew Much Fun.

Okay, that is one cheesy title, but looking at it, kind of makes me laugh. I took this picture while Michelle was nursing Mason, Ruby was running around nakey and Reyna was doing lord knows what. Oh, I think she was trying to "entertain" Michelle while she was nursing. We had no choice, but to sew yesterday with the babes around, which was fine. It was just a little chaotic. Last year, Michelle was kind enough basically make tutu's for Ruby's birthday. I did help, but she was definitely the one who knew what she was doing. This year, I wanted to attempt skirts. Once again, Michelle came to my rescue. Okay, and adorable Mason.

Whaddya think????
This is Ruby's and it will match her cake & cupcakes of owl and birds, which I am making...Lord help me. This will be the first year that I have ever made the cake or cupcakes for either girl, so I am sure I am going to be a frazzled mess. I always get that way when we host a party and it's going to be 10x worse making the cake and cupcakes. Remind me to add wine to the Meijer list.

I think I am going to make a few more skirts for the girls since they refuse to wear anything else besides skirts or dresses. They will look cute for fall with leggings & long sleeve shirts, right?

Blueberry picking 2012

My grandma called me Tuesday morning and told me they were still picking blueberries. I asked her Monday night when we were together and she wasn't sure. I was going to be super bummed it they were no longer picking because the girls really enjoyed going last year.

When she called, I was knee deep in laundry, attempting to clean the house and the girls were working on their latest art project. I must admit, if there is one thing I have learned lately, all of that trivial stuff will still be there the next day. I threw on some clothes, loaded the girls up and a blueberry picking we went.
It felt so good to be able to repeat our tradition from last year. We picked a lot more last year than this year, but no big deal. Reyna definitely ate more than she put into the take home pile.

Out of the mouth of babes

1.        Me. "Reyna."
Reyna. "Mama, my name is still Princess Sophia."

2.  Ruby: "Mama, I have Winnie the Shampoo panties on today."

3. Reyna: "Mama, when did your boobs get so small?"
I didn't say this, but I remembered a recent conversation with friends about whether or not we    would have implants done or not. I might seriously reconsider my answer now......ha!

4. I turned Ruby's Leapfrog Violet on last night for her and the first thing it says is, "Hi Ruby."
"Mama, I really do not like when she calls me by my name. Please make her stop."

This list could go on and on...:)

Camping+Kayaking+Crayfish=heaven

Believe it or not, this was our first camping trip since we have had our camper, that we camped just the four of us. Okay, I talk like we camped soo much before that, but you know what I mean. :)  Last weekend, we loaded our kayaks, the camper and the girls up and headed out really close to home a campground ground that Jade & I have stayed at before, but the girls were not with us. We stayed right on the river, which was amazing. All weekend, the girls waded into the ankle deep, clear water. Reyna caught crayfish, while Ruby stuck to snails and shells. They skipped stones and tubed. I loved it because it is ankle deep and there is no current. Saturday, we loaded them into the kayaks and headed down the river. We put the girls into the tandem and I was in the single, which works so perfect. We even took Bobo! She paddled with me. :) Our tandem has two adult seats + a puddle jumper, which is up to 65 pounds. We would paddle a little, get out and swim, paddle some more, have a snack. The girls were bummed when we arrived back at the shore. I wish I had pictures of our kayaking, but it is not the smartest idea to take a camera on the river...bummer!

Sunday morning, Jade made a huge breakfast, while I was cleaning up. He started joking around about leaving the camper and coming back the following weekend. I started racking my brain on what we had going. We do have something going, but not until Sunday. Can u guess where our camper is??? Jade knows the owner of the campground and there are several people in the campground (one right across from us) who Jade knows who have seasonals and that stay all summer. They were going to keep an eye. In fact, Jade has talked with the guy a couple of times.

This upcoming weekend, we are going to kayak again on Saturday with some friends who plan on spending the day. The girls are sooo excited to spend another weekend catching crayfish, playing in the river and kayaking. I must admit, it is nice knowing we are getting away another weekend. When we were out there last weekend, it felt like we were so unplugged. I feel like we need a little more of that now and again.

Bullet's

  • See above picture....I took that a week 1/2 ago and since then, our garden has doubled in size. We are now picking fresh lettuce daily and yummy green onions. Our squash, green peppers and hot peppers are ALMOST ready. This year we planted... from left to right; sunflowers, yellow squash, zucchini squash, cucumers, green peppers, jalapenos, chile peppers, green beans, raddishes, red onions, green onions, lettuce, tomatoes (two kinds: beef steak and mini cherry), potatoes, pumpkins. This is my favorite year for having a garden. The girls LOVE helping, which makes it so much easier.
  • The girls & I had the chance to see Ashley, Ryan & the kids this week. I cannot believe it has been over a year since they have been gone. Time goes by so fast, doesn't it?
  • Our weekend pretty much stunk, I am not going to lie. Last Friday night, I took Reyna to express care @ 9:30 at night. Her mouth was so swollen. They treated her for an absess tooth. Jade used to get these when he lost baby teeth. They gave her antibiotics and sent us home. We finally tucked her in around 11:30. It was such a late night. Saturday morning, I took my 14 year old kitty, Lucy, to be put to sleep. She was my cat that lived @ my mom and dad's. She was very sick. Oh, and to top off everything else, Jade's uncle passed away from a long battle with brain cancer. We were definitely ready to kiss this past weekend goodbye. This post has been a work in progress all week and I am so excited to say hello to this weekend. We are camping complete with kayaking, fishing and lots of s'more making.
  • Have I mentioned Ruby is potty trained?? Have I mentioned I am SO glad I will never be going thru the potty training stage again?!?! It's not that it has been hard, but it's a lot of work. I will say, Reyna was a lot easier. She picked it up one day and that was the end of that story. Ruby has had a few accidents. I know this sounds kind of funny, but when I ask her if she peed her pants, she completely denies it. And she is really, really serious about it, too.
  • We have started taking Reyna to tennis clinics and she is LOVING it. She cannot wait until the next one. I think she is going to start gymnastics this fall, as well. How is she getting sooo big????

  • This is all I have for now.....

6.25.2012

Friday night.

Friday night, we took the girls to get ice cream and then headed over to the Falling Water's Trail to look around and burn off some energy. And, if you have ever seen Ruby eat an ice cream cone, you would not want her eating one in your vehicle, either. It was an absolute gorgeous night. The girls went down by the area where you can fish and found some snails.

(Poor Reyna was in Express Care this same night for an absess tooth. Her poor mouth. She is better now.)

I decided to take Bobo for a short walk, while Jade spotted fish for the girls on the bridge and that is when I heard Reyna start to cry. Like really cry. I looked over and started running over there. I thought she was hurt the way she was crying. Turns out, her flip flop fell off her foot and into the water -hence the crying. Reyna takes pretty good care of her belongings so it didn't surprise me the amount of tears shed over her shoe. She kept asking Jade to get it, but there was no way he was going to be able to reach it...w/out a boat or something. He loaded us into the car and gave Reyna a speech about how we need to keep our feet away from the edge of the water. But, at the same time, I knew he had something in mind. I just wasn't sure what. We pulled in our driveway, Jade told us to stay in the car and the next thing I knew he had his waders in hand. Back to the water we went. I tell ya, what he will not do for his girls. It was so funny to see him in waders, the girls cheering him on, retreiving a flip flop out of the water.

The next night we took the girls down to the same spot to go fishing (w/out flip flop fiascos) and I asked Jade if he ever wondered what it was like to have boys or ever wished he had a son. I mean, he is surrounded by girls. Constantly. Poor guy, our dog is even a girl. The only other males in our house are the cats. :) He said it never even crosses his mind. The moment I asked him and he answered, he handed the fishing pole over to Ruby and she reeled in a blue gill. :)

Snow cones, classic Ruby & flowers

"Ruby look at mama."                                      And, this is what I get from her.

The classic Ruby look these days. Reyna went thru this. Now, she likes to ham it up for the camera. Or, she asks for her picture to be taken.
Every year, I plant big pots of flowers that line the driveway. I decided to get rid of three of the pots and put two pots on our porch. I was sick of spending so much money on annuals, when all they do is die. It was expensive just filling the two on the porch, BUT I put a little more variety into them this year since I was only filling two. Guess who did about 80% of the planting???? Yep, you guessed it....Reyna! All I did was fill the pots with dirt. She is amazing. She knows to squeeze the sides to get the plant out, loosen the roots, make a nice hole for the plant. She just amazes me everyday. Oh, and I never attempt to even water the flowers. This is her job. Her favorite? The purple petunias. And yes, she calls the flowers by their name. No, they are NOT just flowers.

I purchased a snow cone machine at the beginning of the week. The girls LOVE it. So far, we have had blue raspberry & cherry and we like cherry the best.
