Or in my case, lack of. Since I have had Ruby, I have been slowly buying shirts and sweaters to replenish my sad little wardrobe. Jeans and pants have totally been out of the question. I made that mistake with Reyna. I had her, I bought all new and switched sizes several times. Luckily, I held onto several pants in several sizes, so I have had something to wear.
I went shopping last weekend. I took Ruby and headed out of town to do a little shopping. My intent was to purchase new brown boots. I didn't find a single pair I liked, so instead, I
purchased clothes. It's funny, because I realized the difference between my style as an upper 20's something gal, as opposed to a younger 20's. I found a sweater similar to this one ----->

The one I found, had six buttons on the bottom, but I couldn't find the exact picture, so whatever. Here is something similar just to give you a visual. Anyway, back to my story. I found this sweater, found my size in black and started searching for a long sleeve shirt to go underneath. I asked the sales lady for her opinion (remember the younger 20's chick with adorable taste) and she pointed out a white cami with lace on the top. My first thought was, "I am gonna freeze this winter in a teeny white tank." My second thought was, "I am such a geek." I put the sweater back and chose something else. Am I a nerd? Can I not wear a long sleeve shirt under this sweater? Anyway, I ended up picking out this one in turqoise.
I also found this shirt, which I picked up in a couple of colors. It fit well and I have a tendancy to do that.
The last shirt I picked out, I cannot even believe I am admitting this, I bought a plaid shirt. When I saw that plaid was coming back, I thought, "No way am I EVER going to follow that trend." It's actually really cute. It's longer, multi print and has a tie around the waist. Once again, I asked cute, young sales chica her opinon and she thought the shirt was "so adorable" and it would look "soooo cute" with black leggings. What?! I think I will stick with jeans. Leggings and plaid? Too much for me.

I know I mentioned I had not purchased pants since having Ruby, I did decided to browse jeans. Blog readers, I am now the proud owner of my first pair of skinnny jeans.
I am still kind of asking myself, "what the hell were you thinking?" I am sort of excited about them.

So I never did find boots. I wasn't crazy about the styles out right now. They had a huge selection of riding boots and slouchy boots, but that is not what I am looking for. I am looking for something similar to this, but I guess that's another shopping trip.
So tell me, what is your take on skinny jeans and plaid? Be honest. You won't hurt my feelings.

I think the skinny jeans are great for you! Were is the sweater in the photo from?
Do not take offense, but I hate skinny jeans and I hate the 'new' plaid looks that are out!! BUT, I bet your new skinny jeans make you look and feel great, and that's all that matters.
Well, I hate plaid, but I do skinny jeans, IF worn the right way and on the right person look good. I like them with boots. I actually bought a pair of boots last week with the intentions of buying some skinny jeans after I drop a few more pounds!
Sounds fun. I hate those little fashionistas, I feel like such a mom around them! Bitches :)
Cute clothes!:)I have some skinny jeans and I LOVE THEM! I bought some boots similar to the ones you are looking for at Kohls. They are black and I think they were around $50?
I bought a plaid shirt myself got it home retried it on and said, maybe not. But I liked the shirt not on me. Skinny jeans are fine if worn the right way, they are all wrong on me. at least the pair I own is.
hey les,
I've never tried skinny jeans... i just don't think they would look very good on me.... curvy waist & short legs. The plaid might be very doable. :) Where did you make all your purchases at?
I have one pair of skinny jeans and I only wear them with my Uggs or my taller black boots that can go over the pant leg. I can't pull them off with any other shoes that don't go over the pants. Too wide of hips and butt (especially now)! You on the other hand could probably wear them with anything :)
I think skinny jeans would look hideous on me... for the same reasons Emilie said. However, I think they'd be nice to have to wear with Ugg type boots but.... I'd be nervous I'd have to take off the boots at some point and would look ridiculous. I'd never dream of wearing them with like flats or something. EWWW.
Plaid shirts... I'm sure whatever you got is cute! My first impression is "yuck, soooo 90's" but I bet there are some cute styles out there. Can't wait to see your new purchases!
you are so cute and tiny that I bet the jeans look great on you. and it's not like we're talking 90s style plaid baggy mens shirt here, I think if it's more tailored then you can definitely pull it off!
I'm on the hunt for a pair of skinnies to wear with my new fake Uggs:) It looks silly to try and tuck my boot cut jeans into them...looks all baggy. However, I don't think my body type will look good in them without the boots, so if I go somewhere that I know the boots will have to come off, I will probably opt for another look:) So anyways, I'll be purchasing a pair of skinnies when I can find a good price. I don't want to spend a lot since I know they won't be my every day jeans. As for the plaid shirts, I almost got one at Von Maur this past weekend. Some are super ugly, but I have seen a few that are adorable. Wear your new jeans and shirt on Sunday so I can see! :)
Sounds like a fun shopping trip! Isn't it nice to wear "real" clothes again? :)
I need a pair of skinny jeans too, but only to wear with boots over them. I could never do them without boots. Ick.
I always wear long sleeved shirts under short sleeved ones. In fact, it's what I wore today at work. I think it looks cute!
I LOVE skinny jeans, if worn the right way. I always wear them with flats in the spring/summer or with boots in the winter.
