Grocery shopping.

While the girls were sleeping this afternoon, I started compiling a list of groceries we needed. Jade is helping a friend with drywall tonight, so I had this brilliant idea to grocery shop with the girls after nap. The girls woke up, we got ready and left.

I don't know if I have mentioned, but I love grocery shopping. Not the whole spending money part, but I love having a fridge stocked full of food. I dislike the idea of not having a variety of foods in the house. Generally, I grocery shop by myself. I don't like to rush because when I do, I end up overlooking something on my list and that just makes me mad. Plus, it's hard to take the girls. Ruby cannot sit in the cart yet therefore, her carrier takes up the entire basket part of the cart. If Reyna rides in the cart, there goes my grocery space up front to. Someone needs to invent a cart that is more mommy-friendly.

Anyway...off to Meijer we went.

I loaded Ruby into the cart while giving Reyna the rules about how we aren't going to hide ((which she has done)) in shelves and how we are going to stick next to mama...yada, yada, yada...

After about five minutes of grocery shopping, I am already feeling overwelmed. Reyna loves to pick up stuff off the shelves that, according to her, are "must haves." We always end up finding random things in our cart at checkout.

Did I mention that it's a freaking zoo? Duh, Les. It's Friday. Everyone and their brother is there.

I think Reyna only got hit a couple of times by carts that did not see her adorable little body prancing down the aisles.

Sweet jebus, let's get this over with already...

My phone rings and it's Jade. When I told him I was at Meijer, he was like, "what the hell are you doing at Meijer on a Friday with both girls?"

"Les, just get the stuff you need tonight and we will go tomorrow together."

Music to my ears.....

I grabbed about 8 or 9 random things and to the check out we were headed. As I was looking for a lane, Reyna then informed me that the grapes at Meijer were soooo yummy.

Turns out, while I was shopping for produce, Reyna was test tasting produce.

Oh my word.

My main goal was to buy produce to make baby food for Ruby. I did end up grabbing a little produce. After my trip to Meijer though, I am too damn exhausted to steam and puree anything...My butt will be planted on the couch immediately after completing this post.

i know how you feel! I would much rather shop alone...and my girls are 9 and 7 and it is a TON of work even with them at that age!

I never saw you today, does that mean you couldn't bring yourself to come back in? oh, and I asked around and no one remembers the crazy lookin' mama with the little girl sampling the grapes;)

I am with you - I LOVE a fully stocked refrigerator! After reading your adventure, I feel very lucky that I am able to go mid-day on Fridays! I take all 3 kids with me, but the store is usually pretty quiet.

(And my kids are the ones in the produce department who are throwing tantrums because I won't let them have an apple.)

i love having a full fridge/cupboards! :) i take tucker with and he's pretty good (but does grab atleast one thing each time that is a 'must have' to him). now he insists on helping the ladies run things through the register. it's cute, but i'm glad they are patient!

i'm terrifed to have to do it with two kids. luckily, my hubby doesn't mind going. :)
