So, here's the scoop. Monday evening, I was driving home from my mom & dad's after picking up the girls. I called Jade to let him know we were on our way. When I talked with him, he said that he had a surprise. So, we get home and he is standing outside on the phone. It was still light outside, so I had not yet noticed our power was out. I get out of the van and I hear Jade on the phone with 911. I go to the back yard, realize our tree was down. I am going to do the rest in bullet points, since I am kind of pressed for time. I will update with pic's later. My camera doesn't have much battery left and the charger was blown into pieces. Nice, huh?
- Our tree was struck by lightning, which our neighbors said it sounded like something exploded.
- The electricity traveled under our ground, up to the house, blew a hole in the ground and exploded an old sewer pipe.
- We had an outlet plug that shot off the wall and broke in half.
- Our battery charger for the camera exploded and landed in the middle of the room
- Pic's were knocked off the wall
- Jade was out by this tree minutes prior shoveling dirt and decided to stop, take a break and go get a beer. The joke has been for once, beer saved him instead of getting him into trouble.
- The dog was with Jade.
- The cat and rabbit are alive and well
- No power, gas was shut off due to horrid smell.
- Five fire trucks, Cochran Electric, Semco Energy and Consumers @ our house
- We pack up and head to my parents, kids, dog, freezer of meat and all.....
- Consumers pulled the meter from the house
Fast forward to Tuesday
- Someone comes over to remove tree
- Cochran Electric spent the day at the house, rewiring and giving us a new fuse box
- Inspector comes and gives the go-ahead for Consumers
- Consumers does NOT show up even though we were told they were going to come
- I pack up, head home to a MESS but stay at home
Wednesday (today)
- Consumers is coming. I have spoke with them
- We still aren't sure what we lost as far as appliances, electronics and such
- House is still trashed. Between the people coming in and out of the house, the mud that splattered from the ground, the swing set that split in half, the pieces of tree on our roof, tree in our yard that haas been cut down, our yard and house looks AWFUL.
- Feeling super blessed that nobody was hurt
A real quick THANK YOU.....to my family and Jade's family for helping out in lots of different ways, to Cochran Electric for coming our late Monday night to assess, Concord Fire Dept., you guys rock!, to our friends who have called and offfered help...you know who you are....we are very grateful for all of your concern! :)
More updates when I get time!

Hopefully by now your power is on (don't you looooove Consumers?? heh heh heh!) and there isn't too much to replace.... although when we had a power surge at our old house it was kind of nice to go shop for new appliances on insurance $$ :)
