*This post was started almost two weeks ago...
So, last night we went to my parents for dinner. My grandma came over with a delicious homemade apple pie in tow, that she just whipped together last minute. We were sitting around eating pie and ice cream when I mentioned to Reyna that Great Grandma makes a really good apple pie. Reyna, in her super excited voice said, "Grandma, I will help you make one. I can stir really, really good." It was so sweet.
I wanted to freeze this moment. Reyna was excited, everyone was happy......For that moment, I blocked cancer out of my mind.
My Grandma has cancer. Pancreatic cancer to be exact. She is currently doing chemo treatments & radiation @ University of Michigan. I know she is in good hands, but it still doesn't make it easier.
How does this happen to healthy people? It doesn't seem fair.
Since we have found out my grandma had cancer, I am so amazed by her. She is such a strong person. She has such a great attitude. The doctors are administering chem & radiation to shrink her tumor. Afterwards, she will be going thru a procedure called, "Whipple." I pray for her everyday.
So, for the time being, I will be sporting yellow. In memory of my Grandpa (her husband) and in honor of my Grandma who is in the process of kicking cancer in it's ass!
