top ten tuesday-new years style

Just a few things that I hope/plan to focus on this year!

  1. Patience. Most of the time, I do okay in this department. It's just something I would like to make sure I keep in check.
  2. Procrastination. I have probably said this every dang year. I am the biggest procrastinator you are ever going to meet. It drives Jade crazy. I am {hoping} to do a little better this year. It's dumb because it's the smallest things that I drag my feet doing, too: returning e-mails, phone calls, taking care of a stack of papers that need to be filed away. Bleh!
  3. Crossing something off of my bucket list. If you haven't checked it out, please do so.  I would also like to add a few things to this list, too.
  4. Taking better care of my body. I tend to eat out of boredom. I need to stop! We got a Wii for Christmas and with some Christmas money, I purchased a Wii Fit. I am using it, but not as often as I would like.
  5. Stop sweating the small stuff. I like to dwell. Nuff said.
  6.  Continue to go on dates with Jade at least once a month. We have been pretty good about this, so I definitely want to make it a priority.
  7. Be creative and keep the girls busy during the day. I have been better at this, but I am really making an effort to stop doing what needs to be done all the time and have a little more fun during the day with the girls. While Ruby was sleeping today, Reyna & I played with her stamp set. I showed her how to stamp and then use the colored pencils to shade in the rest. It was fun just focusing on her.
  8. Continue to read this year with my Kindle from Jade. Yes, he bought me a Kindle for Christmas. He even had it shipped to my parents! Such a sneaky guy. I love it and it was such a thoughtful gift. :)
  9. Learn to sew. I am not to the point where I want to run out and buy a sewing machine, but I would like to make some dresses for the girls this summer. Em & I talked about this and I thinks he is going to help me.
  10. Remember to count my blessing. Yes, our economy could be better and whatever else, but in the end, we are blessed to have a healthy family & I need to remind myself of this daily.

Oh the piles of stuff on the kitchen counter!! I am a big procrastinator in this area as well! I hate the piles, but I hate putting them away even more!

I too procrastinate on the silliest things! All my tax stuff? Filed and ready to be sorted and preped. The bills that are due in the coming weeks? Laying all over my desk waiting for me to just sit down and do it already!

And I am also way guilty of focusing only on the stuff that needs to get done during the day and forgetting to take joy and pleasure in the little moments I have with each of the kids.

And sewing . . . I want to learn as well! I have given myself until the end of the year to get crafty in some other areas - if I can stick to those and get some things done, I will go for the sewing. Dresses for the girls would be so cute!

Invest in an inexpensive e sewing machine or buy a used one. Just for mending they are worth it. I started out with a $58.00 machine from Sears. (sure they are more now ) All you need is one that goes forward and back, zig zag and makes button holes. You can do a lot with the minimum. You could make the girls sun dresses for about a $1:00 or $2.00 each.
Love your List. You are such a sweet granddaughter.
