Believe it or not, this was our first camping trip since we have had our camper, that we camped just the four of us. Okay, I talk like we camped soo much before that, but you know what I mean. :) Last weekend, we loaded our kayaks, the camper and the girls up and headed out really close to home a campground ground that Jade & I have stayed at before, but the girls were not with us. We stayed right on the river, which was amazing. All weekend, the girls waded into the ankle deep, clear water. Reyna caught crayfish, while Ruby stuck to snails and shells. They skipped stones and tubed. I loved it because it is ankle deep and there is no current. Saturday, we loaded them into the kayaks and headed down the river. We put the girls into the tandem and I was in the single, which works so perfect. We even took Bobo! She paddled with me. :) Our tandem has two adult seats + a puddle jumper, which is up to 65 pounds. We would paddle a little, get out and swim, paddle some more, have a snack. The girls were bummed when we arrived back at the shore. I wish I had pictures of our kayaking, but it is not the smartest idea to take a camera on the river...bummer!
Sunday morning, Jade made a huge breakfast, while I was cleaning up. He started joking around about leaving the camper and coming back the following weekend. I started racking my brain on what we had going. We do have something going, but not until Sunday. Can u guess where our camper is??? Jade knows the owner of the campground and there are several people in the campground (one right across from us) who Jade knows who have seasonals and that stay all summer. They were going to keep an eye. In fact, Jade has talked with the guy a couple of times.
This upcoming weekend, we are going to kayak again on Saturday with some friends who plan on spending the day. The girls are sooo excited to spend another weekend catching crayfish, playing in the river and kayaking. I must admit, it is nice knowing we are getting away another weekend. When we were out there last weekend, it felt like we were so unplugged. I feel like we need a little more of that now and again.
