When I was pregnant with Reyna, I was prepared. Well, as prepared as you can get for labor anyway. We had her crib, dresser, bookshelf and bedding purchased before we even had her ultrasound. Looking back, it was jumping the gun and a little too prepared, but whatever.
When we had our ultrasound and found out we were having a little lady, I shopped. Then I shopped and shopped more. I mean come on, Reyna couldn't come home from the hospital without her drawers stocked to the hilt! Not really, but looking back, buying and "stocking up" made me feel prepared for having a baby. I think. That's the conclusion I am coming to anyway.
Lately, I have been feeling a little panicked like, "oh my gosh, we are having a baby and I haven't done a damn thing to prepare!"
I feel like I need to do something to put my mind at ease and the only thing that comes to mind is to go shopping. But for what?! We don't need anything. I am planning on picking up a couple of random items that are looking a little worn and tattered, but I don't want to until we find out if we are having a little man or a little lady. I guess I could go with something gender neutral, but what fun is that? :) Just kidding.
In the next couple of weeks to come, I will make a Target run and stock up on those ever-so-soft swaddlers that I secretly wish came in my size. I will buy a package of newborn size paci's, not because we need them, but they will put my mind a little more at ease.
And really I do have a good hubs. We were @ Target last Saturday and while cruisin' thru the baby dept. I started to panic. He laughed it off and told me that he will be waiting for his list when the baby arrives and wherever I need him to go pick up baby items, I just need to tell him where.

I know what you mean.... even though we knew we were having another boy and had everything, it was like "I haven't had to BUY anything for this baby!" Granted, I took out most of my "preparing issues" on decorating his nursery... that kept me busy and satisfied my planning itch. However, many times I thought "What was all the fuss about bringing a baby home? They really don't NEED anything!"
What a good hubby... he's ready and waiting for his to-do list LOL!
Dp whatever you need to so your mind is at ease... :)
Love that you will have a list ready. I was imagining what u might do and this would be my exact thought as well. He can go early the next morning and have stuff before you are discharged! You could always buy a few things you would want in the first 2 weeks 'if you were to have a boy' and if there was no boy baby, just save your receipt and have him return them! Most places are 90 days return, and we are within that window now!!! LOL! Then after 2 weeks with the baby, you might feel good to go out and start shopping more for this baby.
We plan to get ALL the baby stuff down from the attic next Sunday when we get home from camping, and Monday morning we will start sorting through what we will reuse for Brady and what we will sell this summer. I hope I dont start crying as Im going through Lukas' old clothes. :(
i think there's that part of all of us that wants to get some 'new' things for the 'new' baby - even if we don't need them. i haven't had #2 yet, but i'm sure i will buy things to be 'ready'. if it is a boy i SURELY won't need barely anything, but it will make me feel good i'm sure.
shop 'til you drop sista! :)
What a good husband you have!! :) You think he could give a class to my bf? ;) Shopping is always fun!
I'm sure you will feel more at ease once you buy those couple of things from Target :)
And what a good hubs you have!
I think you should definitely go out and buy some cute little outfits or sleepers in BOTH genders (because it's so fun! and therapeutic!) and then return the stuff you won't use after the baby's born. Or have your husband return it all, since he's so willing to be helpful like that:)
I hear ya Leslie. We didn't do much to prepare for Bianca. We had everything. Just had to pick up a new monitor set and a few outfits! With Bennett, I felt like I waited so long to finish his room and get things ready. Oh well, it won't matter after he/she comes. You are just being restless is my guess!
Shopping can't hurt though! It's always good therapy!
Little things here and there can't hurt.
You could pick out a coming home outfit for either a boy or a girl. Get them something cute to get their picture taking in at the hospital. Have fun shopping!!
I feel like that too- but for me its more of a guilty feeling- like with Maeve I had LOADS of stuff even before I found out it was a girl- we had everything but clothes and bedding. And once we found it was a girl OMG- her drawers/closets were stuffed. So yeah, to me its like for some reason I'm not as gung ho about shopping for this one... maybe its because I don't know what it is yet... who knows. Anyways I'm with you :)
Its been crazy round here. I will give you a call this week!:) I saw some pics from camping...looks like you had a great time. I am excited to hear about it!
Nesting through shopping. I can dig.
